Meet Your Team

Our clinical team is comprised of two Clinical Psychologists, a Psychiatrist and a Registered Nurse. Our approach to treating patients is truly “integrative”. Every member of the team has received extensive training in the administration of TMS and is committed to using evidence based treatments to provide patients with the highest level of care. Our goal is to help clients identify the “root” of their symptoms, and we utilize a variety of techniques to help clients heal from the inside out. We are pragmatic in our work, helping clients identify practical tools and solutions for dealing with the challenges that brought them into treatment. We take a personalized approach when working with our TMS patients, making sure we do a comprehensive assessment of the patient to identify the treatment protocol and approach that is most likely to be successful.

Clinical Director

Robynne O’Byrne, PhD

Robynne is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with adults, children and families in her private practice. Robynne knows that while many patients benefit from quality therapy, mindfulness meditation, and other therapeutic interventions, some patients feel stuck in depression and anxiety and frustrated at the slow pace of change. Robynne is always looking for new ways of approaching mental health challenges and is keenly interested in the role brain function plays in mood and mental health. When the efficacy of TMS became apparent and it became available as a treatment modality in a private practice setting, Robynne knew she wanted to be able to offer it to patients for whom other treatment modalities had failed. Along with her husband Matthew, Robynne opened Golden State TMS. She is joined by an exceptional clinical team with whom she works to provide patients with excellent care.

Associate Director

Matthew O’Byrne, PhD

Matthew’s therapy practice is comprised equally of adults and children. Although he has expertise in a variety of areas, he has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. He has treated many adults, teens and young children struggling with OCD and other serious anxiety disorders, and is highly successful working with people struggling with these issues. In his work with young children Matthew specializes in play therapy as the primary mode of treatment and combines this approach with collateral parenting sessions. He also works with a large number of teen boys and young men struggling with addiction to marijuana. Furthermore, Matthew has a great deal of experience working with children on the autism spectrum as well as children with school refusal and oppositional defiant disorder. Like Robynne, when it became clear how effective TMS is for treating depression, anxiety and OCD Matthew knew he wanted to be able to offer it to patients for whom other treatments had failed.
